OOC: Thread takes place during Christmas break, so we're doing a bit of a jump backwards for convenience purposes. ^^ I'll be posting with Sam, Jon, and Jacoby - so may get lazy a lot and control two/all of them in one post.
BIC; All the kids were home from school, as was Jon. The house was decorated, the same as it was every year. Alissa really got into the Christmas spirit. Sometimes, Jon felt it was the only time of year she really looked forward to any more. He himself was doing his best to make Kailey and December feel at home. He couldn't imagine how hard all this was for him. Kailey's parents and brothers being gone, and December's own mother being in the games. He was treating them like they were each one of his own. The way he felt it should have been. Sure, Alissa and he had their problems. But they had never let it interfere with their parenting. Nor would they ever do so.
Alissa was in the kitchen preparing dinner. With only two days until Christmas, it was bound to be a small dinner. After all, she always saved all her energy for Christmas dinner. And unlike Jon, Jacoby, and Samantha, Alissa didn't have a wand she could just wave to chop up the veggies and stir the sauce. Jon could hear her humming a Christmas carol as she worked. The kids were in their rooms. He wasn't entirely sure what they were doing, but at the moment, it was quiet. Jacoby had just arrived via floo network, and Jon knew that meant he'd be there until Christmas passed. As he was every year. And the dogs were at he and Jacoby's feet as they sat on the couch, Muggle TV turned on. The house was full, but he had no complaints.
OOC: Just bring her in however you like and we can get it going. Starter posts aren't my specialty, as you can see lol

Kailey was in her room, working on a painting for her new father. It was weird, and kind of hard to call him anything besides Jon. The first few weeks that they had been there were rough, Kailey didn't say that much, to anyone really. But eventually, she talked more and more to Sammie. Kailey put the finishing touches on the painting and set it on the window sill to dry, she opened her door and peeked out, all was quiet throughout the house. She could smell the food that Alissa was making, and boy was she hungry. Kailey wondered what all was going to take place here during the vacation.
Kailey walked out into the hallway and all of a sudden she could hear a big thud coming from December's room. She sighed and opened the door. There on the floor was her niece and the nice bookshelf that Jon, she assumed anyways, put in there, toppled over on her leg. December was screaming her head off.

The sound was sudden. A familiar sound, that as a parent, all three of the adults in the house had heard quite often. First, there was a big thud. That was promptly followed by December's loud screaming. Alissa was the first to move. As was usual in their house. She instantly stopped what she was doing to rush to the room. Jon was up next, rushing behind his wife. Jacoby followed shortly thereafter, but he only went out of what he felt was obligation rather than genuine concern.
"Honey, are you okay?" Jon heard Alissa say as he entered the room. The bookshelf had fallen, and caught her leg in the process. Samantha and Junior were each behind their father, peeking in quite tentatively. Kailey was there, too. Jon and Jacoby were quick to lift the bookshelf up and off December, and Alissa scooped her up to check her leg. "You're going to be all right," Alissa said. "What happened?" Samantha asked.
OOC: Feels cut off. Muse is starting to vanish. Prob cause it's midnight. xD

Kailey stood almost astonished at the reactions that her niece was getting. She heard Sammie asked what had happened but to be honest she didn't know what had happened at all. She was just passing by the room when she heard the thud. But December pointed her finger at Kailey. Kailey's eyes widened with horror. "I did no such thing you brat! I didn't do anything at all so don't be pointing your damn finger at me! You best be telling the truth or I'll whoop you broken leg or not!" she said exclaiming loudly.
December started to wail even more loudly, clinging to Alissa as if all was lost. "Yews pushededs its ons mes no lies no lies mes saws yews does its" she said.

OOC: Doing this the lazy way. Controlling them all via Jacoby's post.
It was clear from the expression on Jacoby's face that he didn't quite care what happened beyond saving December from beneath the bookshelf. As far as he could see, she wasn't bleeding, and nothing was broken, so she was just fine. It was pretty typical of Alissa, however, to freak out over such things. Jonathan, too. "She was in her room," Jacoby said indifferently, "And was standing at the doorway when we came in."
Alissa sighed. "No one will be whooping anyone," she said as she held the wailing December in her arms. The child clinging to her all the while. "Did you see what happened, Kailey?" she asked. She supposed, to herself, that it could have been an accidental burst of magic. She'd seen it happen with her own children when they were as young as December.
OOC: Guess I'll keep Jon and Sam silent this post. Or post again. Whichever lol Muse doesn't seem to want them to speak, though.

Kailey shrugged her shoulders. "I have the faintest idea of what happened, I was walking down the hall on my way to see if you needed any help with cooking when her royal highness started wailing. I opened the door, and saw the case on top of her. I couldn't move it so I didn't bother trying because I knew that she would try to do something like this and blame me. But its all good." Kailey said. She looked at Jacoby, it seemed at least he knew that she didn't do what December said she had done.
December continued to snivlle and cry. "Yesh yews dids, me saws yews..yews pusheded its. No hits mes for tellin twoof!" she said crying harder. While her leg didn't seem broken, and wasn't bleeding, the bruising was already showing up.

Jonathan listened as Kailey spoke, giving her the benefit of a doubt. It didn't seem logical that she had done it. Even if it had been a magical outburst, he was sure an auror - like Jacoby - would have caught it. Though, he couldn't be entirely sure if they'd been trained for such things. He could vaguely recall Jacoby mentioning something about it a long time ago. "I think she's telling the truth," Jon said, turning to face December, "Which makes me wonder what really happened?" he asked softly, speaking to her the way a father would. Emphasis on really, but no judgement in the words at all.
Jacoby nodded in agreement. "The kid's fine," he said, "Not much to it, really," his neutralism on the subject was clear in his voice. As was the fact that he wasn't quite used to speaking to children, despite having so many of his own. December kept wailing, blaming Kailey again. Alissa rocked her slightly in an attempt to calm her. The leg definitely wasn't broken. There was a bruise, which she noticed instantly. "Jonny," she said quickly, "Where's the bruise paste?" Jacoby took that as his opportunity, "I'll get it," he replied, turning for the door. Samantha followed behind him. The situation could go rotten quickly, she knew that from experience.
OOC: Hehe, lazy post. Probably could have posted more, but I didn't want to make it too long.

December knew by now that her gig was up. She couldn't blame her aunt for what happened. "Me's still fink she dids it. Me no no what happeneds but if she didn'ts do its I didn'ts." she said sniffling and snuggling into Alissa.
Kaliey was simply astounded. "This is ridiculus. I'm outta here. December you can freaking blame me all you want but I didn't do it and Jon saw through it and so did Jacoby. If you want to blame me for your faults go ahead. But I'm not going to stay here and listen to a little brat accuse me of anything."
December looked at her aunt and glared. "Gets outs den..gets de hell outs!" December didn't even acknowledge that Jacoby and Samantha left the room.

"We don't lie in this house," Alissa said sharply, her sternness already starting to show through. Jon and Jacoby could both see her patience wearing thin. It was written all over her face. December was snuggling into Alissa, and for the moment Alissa was still letting her. She had been recently hurt, after all. But one wrong word and that might change. Jonathan knew that well enough. At Kailey's words, Alissa looked up at her and added, "And no name calling, either,"
Jon shifted slightly, fidgeting for a moment. As was normal for him. After all, between he and his wife, he was the one who was terrible at these things. He'd fidget and try to think of other things. At the moment, he was trying to remember whether he'd taken his medication yet or not. He could hear Junior laughing one room over, and found himself focused on that. At December's next words, Alissa gasped. Jon knew that would be what would do it. Alissa didn't even like when he swore. "Get in the corner," she snapped, putting the toddler to her feet, "Now! You're lucky I don't wash your mouth out with soap." Jon found himself thinking she was lucky she didn't pop it. He turned on the spot to follow Kailey out. "Are you okay?" he asked when he caught up with her.

December started to cry immediately when she was placed upon the ground and told to go into the corner. She crawled over to a corner and curled up in it. She started to sniffle and looked back at her new guardian while her mother was gone. "Me no wan be in da corner me wan be outs!"
Kailey looked at Jon, almost as if she were surprised he'd ask her such a question. "Am I okay...hmm lets see my snobby little niece can somehow talk herself out of any and all punishments, oh and not to mention blamed me for that stupid incident. Yea, I'm just peachy." she snapped at her guardian. Kailey continued on her way to her bedroom and sighed.

"You'll stay there until you realize why saying bad words is wrong," Alissa snapped as she stood up, eyes stern on December. She wasn't backing down. Alissa was a stubborn woman, after all. And she definitely wasn't going to argue with December. She'd learned long ago that that would get her nowhere.
Jon stared at Kailey in confusion. He was still getting used to raising preteens. It was... quite different than raising children. She snapped at him, a direct blow if he were to be honest as he hadn't quite gotten used to that part, either. He didn't say a word. "Don't talk to your uncle like that," Alissa snapped, "Your niece is not talking herself out of anything. Everyone gets the same treatment in this house," she rambled. Jacoby and Sam could still hear every word, but remained steadily silent as Kailey made her way to her bedroom.

Kailey rolled her eyes. She hadn't meant to snap at Jon but it had happened. But for some reason when Alissa snapped at her she gritted her teeth and turned to stare at her. " He's not my uncle! I'm not really family remember?!" That being said she really did leave the room and go to hers, slamming the door shut. Nothing at this point was going to make her feel better. All she wanted was her twins back. Kailey opened the book that she had been studying for the past few days and looked to see if their was a spell that she could use to bring back her beloved siblings.
December was wide eyed and looked at the corner staying quiet. How did she end up in this mess.
