00X. overall personality Eccentric, Dean is the type of person who will occasionally stand out in a crowd. His personality seems to change on a whim, matching whatever situation he is currently in. He is exceptionally forgetful. Expecting him to remember something is expecting far too much. He will often try to recall an event, or a person, and will end up looking like a monkey scratching his head. The kind of person who can fall asleep in one city and wake up in the next - with no recollection of how he got there - he has been known to 'black out' occasionally. Despite having been a bully in Hogwarts, he is mostly friendly. Accepting of people from all walks of life.
Overall, he is desperate for attention and for acceptance. He has trouble keeping friends due to the fact that he can come across as strange, but that doesn't stop him from trying. He is easy to push over and manipulate due to his strong desire to please those that he cares about. Because of his often submissive nature, he has been in many dangerous situations and has had his share of abusive relationships over the years. Not very loyal, Dean will turn on a friend if another 'friend' seems to benefit him more. Afraid of commitment, Dean is often the first to pack his bags and run when a relationship goes wrong. He is prone to excessive spending at times, and is prone to binge drinking much in the same fashion as his mother before him. Despite seeming to have no guidance in his life, Dean is ambitious and once he gets started on a project, he won't finish until he is done. Despite not being loyal, Dean does care about those that he loves very much and when it really, really comes down to it, he'd take a cruciatus curse for the lot of them.

0VI. overall history Born to wealthy business man Joshua Cadwell and his wife, Antoinette, Dean was their second child. His brother, Jake, passed away before he was born. There were never any pictures of Jake around the house. Growing up, to Dean, it was as though the other had never existed. Neither parent spoke of their other son much. The most he'd heard of Jake, he had heard when his mother went on drinking binges (which grew more and more frequent as he himself grew). She would always talk about how Jake had never been a healthy boy, and how she knew his death was imminent from the time he was born. Dean would never ask for a why or a how, he'd only listen.
Dean's childhood was complicated. There are large portions of it that he doesn't exactly recall. Not on his own, anyway. His mind has successfully blocked much of it away. Raised predominantly by his mother, he grew to rely on her from the beginning. Since he was now her only child, she would often dote on him, placing most of her affection on him. To the public eye, she was a wonderful mother. However, things changed within the walls of their country home. Many people who knew her exceptionally well would tell anyone willing to listen that Antoinette was not well. She held paranoid believes that she would often pass down to Dean, convincing him at a young age of their validity. When Dean was seven, she converted to Muggle religion and instead of things getting better, they got worse from there.
Jealous of his own son, Joshua became more and more abusive toward him as the years progressed. There were some months where Dean didn't see the sun for several days, or even weeks. When questioned about their child, his parents would simply tell the public he was with an aunt, or an uncle, or a close family friend. He'd grown used to going days without food, and he'd grown used to each of his parents strange emotions toward him. Dean never thought much of it. Instead of fearing it, he would phase out, going to a safer place in his mind.
His affection for dogs began when he was ten. His mother, in a moment of weakness for him, bought him a Papillon from a fellow churchgoer. The puppy instantly became Dean's only companion. When he started Hogwarts, he would sneak the dog in with him. An easy task to do thanks to the pet's small size. He was sorted into Slytherin, which wasn't much of a surprise. Most Cadwell's were either placed in Slytherin or Ravenclaw. Dean wasn't studious, nor that intelligent, so Slytherin was the next best guess. He never really fit in with his fellow snakes. He was bullied through most of his first four years. It wasn't until he met Marcus that that all took a turn around. At which point, he became one of the bullies. Of course, in turn, Marcus bullied him around. Manipulated him because he was an easy target.
He went through Hogwarts, barely passing. His time spent at home was as it always was. He had taken to sneaking out when he was locked in his room, making his way to the Doom home whenever the opportunity presented itself. But it got harder when his father charmed the windows locked. His father, however, passed away when he was seventeen. Leaving his mother in a depression. Without Joshua around, she drank more and eventually, drank herself to death the year Dean finished Hogwarts. Confused from his grief, he still continued going to that 'safe place' in his mind. Being an heir, he inherited the money and the estate, though the business was passed down to his uncle.
He obtained his second dog when he was twenty, a collie that he bought while in America. And his third at twenty-one, a bulldog he bought while in Spain. Eventually, it became a habit. A dog a year. He spends more time surrounded by his dogs than he does anything else. He married, eventually, when he was twenty-one. He met his ex-wife while in Scotland. The marriage was an impulse that lasted four years. Two children were born of it, Ethan and Kurt. Neither of which he can legally see. He has had a few boyfriends and girlfriends since, though he couldn't honestly tell you all of their names. He currently lives alone... unless you count the many dogs that live on the estate with him.
