(About four years from the current timeline.
Making Jacoby about 35 years old.
hecate, eclipse, nera... not all names fit in title, i don't wanna change title lol)
There comes a time in every man's life when he must accept the inevitable. When he must accept with open arms the fact that life will one day (and perhaps very soon) come to a screeching halt. For some men, this halt is peaceful. It is welcomed with a smile on his face as he slips into the darkness that quickly consumes him. For other men, this halt is bloody terrifying. Everything comes crashing down at once, swallowing him whole as he fights the end tooth and nail. Still, for others, the end isn't an end at all. But, rather, the beginning of an era he doesn't want to meet.
This was the case for Jacoby. He had once had nightmares about this night. He would be lying if he said he hadn't known it was coming all along. His brother wasn't exactly an honest man. All he had to do was keep his end of the bargain. Keep his word and Jacoby wouldn't have taken him in. But of course, Jacoby had been a fool to bring him in. He sold Jacoby out the instant they asked. And when he saw the aurors coming for them, he did what anyone would have done. He ran. He ran because the only thing he could see was Azkaban. He ran because the only thing he could think about was whether they'd lock him with the dementors for the rest of his life or see to it that the dementors kiss was his punishment.
Logically, he knew that running was futile. He knew that they would catch him in the end. Even with aparition (which he had tried a few times) there was nowhere he could run where they wouldn't find him. The group of aurors had slowly dwindled. He'd managed to lose many of them in his run. Mostly the rookies. The ones that weren't ready to pursue someone that had just as much training as they did, someone who had even more experience. And as he darted through Knockturn and turned his gaze to glance behind him he noticed only three still hot on his trail. Among them was Hecate and Eclipse. Well, better them than a rookie, wasn't it? As he sped to turn the corner that would take him to Diagon, he drew his wand again, shouting "Stupefy!" before disappearing behind the wall.
