Lloyd picked up another strawberry as she confessed to him that her mother was ill. The words had been whispered, her eyes looking elsewhere as she spoke them. A worry line pressed its way onto his forehead as he stared at her, not totally understand what the admission meant yet. "Ill?" he asked, holding the strawberry in his hand as he inched closer to her, "How so?" he asked, voice soft as he spoke. He smiled when she said that she didn't like others hurting the ones she cared for. "And I'm glad that you don't," he told her, "I would do the same for you," he said.
Lloyd glanced at her out of the corner of his eye as he took a bite from the strawberry. Cassandra. Explaining what she was like was near impossible. "They didn't want to marry," he said idly, "I mean, my parents had picked her and her parents, him, when they were fifteen or so. So, it's not like they loved one another or anything. Far from it. They were physically violent with each other. She, though... she was... loud," he said with a snicker. She stroked his hair and spoke again. He smiled solemnly as he said, "I know you won't. And I know that I don't."

Danni watches as he picked up a strawberry. She followed in his lead and picked on up as well. She noticed how he inched closer to her. Danni leant her head on his chest and looked up at him. "she's....dying...." she said just as soft. The words seemed to linger in the air. Danni didn't know what was worse. The fact that he mother didn't tell her for three months that she was ill or the idea that there was no set in stone cure.
Danni nodded as he spoke of Marcus's wife. "makes sense. Your brother is a complex individual. I honestly have no clue who would be able to handle a marriage with Marcus." she said with a small chuckle. She smiled and kissed his forehead before wrapping her arms around him. "I can't believe your father wasn't going to pay. If it was our son I would be more than happy to give whatever they wanted for him back."

Lloyd put an arm gently around her as she leaned hear head on his chest, looking up at him. The words hit his ears instantly. She's dying. He didn't know what to make of them. He hadn't known her mother well enough to form an opinion, but the way Danni had spoken the words made him believe that it was hurting her. "I'm so sorry," he said softly. He knew the words wouldn't change anything. As soon as he spoke them, he felt stupid for having said them at all. But he genuinely meant them, even if they were a tad predictable. "Do you know what it is?" he asked.
Lloyd chuckled when she called Marcus complex. He wondered if she had any idea just how complex he was. He tried not to think about the emotions of his brother as she spoke, and instead nodding in response, "Very much so," he replied, "I do not think there is a single person - man or woman - who could handle being married to Marcus-freaking-Doom," he said with a snicker, "Not without going batshit insane in the process," he added as she kissed his forehead and wrapped her arms around him. Lloyd shrugged at her words, "That was my father for you. Quite typical of the man, actually. If it was my son, I'd give them everything to get him back."

Danni nodded slowly at his words. "don't be. It's not your fault." she said taking a stran of her own hair and pushing it back behind her ear in a nervous motion. At his question she nodded. "cancer. The healers can't do much about it."
Danni couldn't help but laugh with him. "I have to admit I think your right. Until I see the day I honestly can't see Marcus finding someone and enjoying their company through marriage. " Danni had been curious of his father for some time but didn't know how to ever bring him up without sounding as if she was trying to pri into his life. But now seemed like a good time to ask her questions. "why was your father like that?" she asked "he seems....quite awful if I'm honest."

He nodded, knowing that he had nothing to be sorry for but still knowing that he'd meant the words when he'd spoken them. He bowed his head as she explained what was wrong with her mother. He supposed that no, Healers could not cure that. "I know that it's not," he said softly, grabbing gently for her hand out of instinct alone, "but it's just so horrible," he added, the words slipping past before he could stop them. "I wish that they could," but he knew that might be a long way away. Even for Wizards.
"He barely tolerates their company over a night," he said, speaking about Marcus and his flings but not going into too much detail. What he'd meant by the words, however, was quite obvious the way he'd spoke them. "The only person Marcus will ever be happily married to is himself. Unfortunately for him, that's not legal yet," Lloyd joked lightly. Poking fun at his favored brother was easy, when he was speaking the truth. Lloyd mused over her question for a moment, not sure how to answer it. He gnawed the inside of his cheek as he thought carefully about his words. "Take Marcus, and take Jacoby," he said carefully, "and mix all their worst traits together and you'd have my father," Lloyd chuckled when she said he seemed awful, "He was. When he was home, he was often rough on Marcus. I guess that's where Marcus learned it from. He loved his dogs. That was about all he ever loved, I think."

"me too." she said as he grabbed for her hand. She laced her fingers in with his as she ate the strawberry in the other hand. "she hide it from me though. I don't know how I'm suppose to feel about it." she said honestly "I still haven't accepted it."
"Actually....it would be possible for him to legally marry himself. He could get one of his flings to drink so Polly juice and marry himself that way." she said "that would be one interesting wedding. I would totally go to it." she said with a soft laugh at the end. Danni listened as he spoke of his father "honestly....I'm kinda happy I never met him....I don't think he would have approved of me. Though I bet my father and your father would get along." she smirked "I guess you picked that trait up from him."

He stared down at their hands as she laced her fingers in his. He heard her words and frowned in response. He couldn't believe that she would hide it from Danni. He didn't know if he should ask why, though. That seemed tactless, even for him. "Hid it from you?" he said instead, feeling like a parrot as he spoke the words. "I'm sure in time you'll know," he said quietly, afraid of saying the wrong thing but trying hard not to let the worry show. "I don't blame you for not accepting it," he added, eyes still on their interlocked hands, "It's hard to accept these things,"
He chuckled when she brought up the possibility of polyjuice potion. The image of Marcus using it in order to marry himself was comical. "The funniest part about that is," he began, snickering, "that I could see him doing that. I would totally be there, too," he said, still laughing under his breath. "I'm happy you never met him, too. He didn't really approve of anyone. Except maybe Marcus. Fatherly bias was clear there. I bet they would have gotten along, too," he said, "Traded tips on how to be horrible fathers," the words slipped from his lips before he could stop them. He chuckled, "Well, I care about more than just my dogs. Though, I guess, in some respects, I did."

"Well," she started nodding her head "we've been living together. So she told me in a owl. I didn't believe it at first. But why would she lie? I haven't talked to her yet." Danni said shamefully. "I don't know what to say to her. I should go see her but I don't think I can do it alone." She said her gaze meeting his eyes, wondering what he was thinking.
Danni couldn't help the smile that speared on her face as she thought of Marcus marrying himself. "I wonder if we should propose the idea to him. I would gladly help in the wedding planning." She said giggling with him. As Lloyd spoke Danni couldn't help but wonder a few things "I wonder what he would of thought if you had brought me home and told him that we where having a child. Do you think he would react like Marcus had?" She asked curiously. Though his next words where offensive and maybe a normal person would find it rude to say, Danni couldn't help but laugh with him because she knew it would have been true. "I bet they would have. They would probably join forces." She smirked "oh really? What else did you pick up from your father?" She asked

His face was sympathetic when she said she had been told via owl. That seemed so impersonal. He couldn't imagine why anyone would deliver such news through owl. "I can't imagine why she would lie," he said quietly, "Talk to her when you feel that you're ready. These things shouldn't be rushed. You'll find the words in time. If you want, I can go with you," he offered. Though he didn't know if she'd take him up on that offer. He didn't know her mother well. He wasn't sure how much support he'd truly be.
He laughed at her next words, shaking his head, "I'm not sure he'd want the help. He's so arrogant that I think he'd much prefer to plan his own wedding. To himself," he said, snickering at the thought. He turned his head to face her, eyes narrowed. "Probably," he admitted, "Though, he was always rougher on Marcus than me. So, he may have just ignored it. Pretended that it didn't exist. He always turned his head when something concerned Jonathan or myself," he admitted, "Probably," he said with a chuckle. At her question, he gave a small shrug, "His stubbornness," he said with a laugh.

Danni sighed lightly at his offer. "I...would love that. But I don't want you to stand there awkwardly. Plus I think I should talk to her by myself. Maybe you could come with me when I have to go with her to St. Mungo's every once and a while." She suggested. "Lloyd....after what happened to my dad....I don't think I can go through losing another parent. Especially my mom. What will happen to Sam?"
Danni couldn't help but laugh with him at the image of Marcus. "Wonder what the theme would be at that wedding." She said lightly. She listened as he talked about his father. "Do you....miss him at all?" She asked knowing she was crossing some lines that he might not answer. She wanted him to be open with her, but if he didn't want to talk, she wouldn't push him. She laughed lightly "his stubbornness and maybe some denseness?" She asked with a smirk

Lloyd nodded in understanding at her reply. He supposed that she was right. It would be better if she talked to her by herself. And he probably would stand there awkwardly. Nevertheless, he'd meant his offer and would be there should she change her mind. "I guess you're right," he replied, "It probably would be best if you were alone when you speak to her. In any case, I'll be here for you," he vowed, giving her hand a gentle squeeze, "And I will go with you when you go to St Mungo's, if you want me to," he added. He bowed his head when she brought up her dad, feeling a brief but harrowing wave of guilt. He didn't quite know how she felt about it. Even though he hadn't been a great dad, he of all people knew that often, those in a situation such as the one she'd been in still developed an attachment to the person. "We could take Sam in," he suggested, realizing just what he was suggesting after he spoke the thought aloud. Still, he wasn't going to take it back. Why couldn't they?
"Theme?" Lloyd asked with a chuckle, "He would be the theme," he joked. He looked at Danni when the question was asked. It was something he didn't think about often enough. He didn't think about his parents often as it was. He often found it was easier to pretend they had never been. It wasn't hard to do, since they'd never been around. Still, he couldn't help but allow them to cross his mind from time to time. Neglectful or not, they were his parents. "Sometimes. I guess," he admitted, "He was my dad, I mean. I can't be like Marcus is. So indifferent to them," he said, them being his family in general. He chuckled at her next comment. Before saying, "Possibly. He wasn't the brightest man."

Danni couldn't help the smile on her face when he said he would be there for her. It meant a lot to we to know that he was. "Thank you." She said as she lean back into him. At his suggestion she looked up at him almost in shock. "Lloyd....that's a lot for us though. Two kids at once?" She looked at him seriously. "I would love to take her in but can we really be able to handle it all?"
Danni couldn't help but laugh when he spoke of Marcus'a wedding. She shock hear head. "Wonder what kind of food he would serve." She listened as he talked about his dad. She smiled lightly and nodded knowing what he had meant. "You should want to think of them like Marcus does. Sure they where your parents but that shouldn't stop you from remembering them how you really remember them, bad or good." She smiled lightly "you didn't get that from him though. Your very smart. Dense yes but not dumb."

He returned her smile with one of his own. She didn't have to thank him. He felt that it was what he should do. That it was what anyone who cared enough about a person would do for them. "No need to thank me," he replied as she leaned into him. She then looked up in shock. He was taken aback for a moment, but understood the reaction regardless. It was a lot to suggest. And he was sure a lot to take in. "I know it is," he replied honestly, "But I think we could handle it just fine. We have the space. In the house," he said, "And money definitely wouldn't be an issue. It would be hard, but... I honestly think we can manage."
He snickered. That was one that he couldn't answer, because he didn't know. So, instead of answering he merely shook his head in response, still chuckling under his breath. He looked up at her as she spoke her next words, shaking his head lightly as he spoke. "The problem is," he began, head tilted slightly in thought, "I don't know how Marcus thinks of them. Not entirely. It's hard to remember them sometimes, anyway," he supposed that was because of the neglect. At least, that's what he liked to think. He chuckled at her response, "Smart? Me? You have obviously never seen my OWL and NEWT scores," he joked.

Danni took in what he was saying and then nodded. "O-okay then. I guess we'll take her in" she said with a smile on her face. "I think you'll like her. She's not like a lot of kids her age. She's very mature." Danni explained knowing that would be something Lloyd would like. "She can help around the house to. It means a extra pair of hands for us."
Danni shock her head laughing. "You knew those are in the past now. Sure maybe when you where at Hogwarts you where dumb but I can't see it," she said as she played with a strand of his hair. "Besides you better now be dumb. The baby will catch it." She joked with a smile on her face.

He smiled as she spoke about her. It was clear that she cared about the other. He liked that. Even though Lloyd's own family had a plethora of problems, deep down he'd always felt that to some extent, family was important. Deep down, he might have even cared about Jon. (He just cared about Marcus more) "That's good," he replied, "I think I'll like her, too," He knew it would be a big responsibility. But he was sure they could do it. He didn't see why not. "That definitely makes it sound even more tempting," he joked. He wasn't really worried about having help with chores or anything, though. After all, having a wand made everything easier.
He snickered, "Past or not, I bet if I took them again I'd score as low," he said, half in jest, half seriously. "But I'm glad to know you don't think I am," he added. And he was. To him, what she thought was more important than what he thought about himself. "Hopefully, the intelligence gene is stronger in the baby than the dumb one."
